🦷 Just had quite a lot of dental work done. Anxiety attacks during drilling was a very intense experience. But the dentist was really nice, kind, and did a lot for me today to fix my mouth up for the future. I'm grateful for that.

I had less than 4 hours sleep last night. Woke up in the small hours feeling terrible and couldn’t get back to sleep. My devices are telling me that my sleep score was ‘High’.

Not being hyperbolic, but I feel like having gum injections and teeth drilled is a genuinely traumatic experience.
This time the dentist injected right into the back of my jaw. It was easily the most painful injection I’ve ever had.
I’m in bed for the afternoon to recover. Maybe I’m getting too old and delicate for this kind of thing now. But I really need to do my best to look after myself…

Mum is having a pretty horrendous time right now. She’s just not well enough to go home yet. It’s a really tough situation for her to be in. Me and Dad met her doctor today. It was a constructive meeting, and helpful. Just not very hopeful. Love you Mum. 💜💜💜

Having a couple of down days. Cancelling everything. Messaging folks to let them know. The overwhelm has been creeping in and I didn’t notice. I push myself too hard. Don’t want to turn it into a crash.

I like what Adam said about Mastodon. Because that’s why I signed up to use it. It’s part of my blog.
For me. I was looking for a microblogging platform. I wanted a place I could post, with reasonable export options.
The social features are a welcome part of the experience for me but only because the curation functionality is strong.
I blog for me. I speak personally. At no one. But I need that to happen in community. If you get what I’m mean.

🎮 Fortnitemares is a lot of fun. And it looks incredible. Me and the kid had this amazing cinematic moment last night. It was like a set piece in a Bond movie and just happened spontaneously in the end game of our last match. Not sure if I can share it but I will if I can.

I had a few down days this week. It was really tough. Yesterday I managed to go visit my Mum in hospital and go to my support centre too.
She’s maybe getting better but still very poorly and struggling very much with still being in hospital after all this time. It’s really really hard to see her suffer like this.
Today, I went out on an errand and the photography bug bit me hard. Lucky for me I carry a camera almost everywhere I go. Autumn is beginning to hit and I found some really nice leaves and scenes.
Photography is medicine for my soul.

The worst of it is my sense of taste is off and that spoiled my morning coffee. 😭
I feel like it’s been looming for a couple of days but I didn’t notice it until last night. Instead I was wondering what was wrong with the food I was eating, what the strange smells I was smelling.

This virus or whatever I have is really wiping me out. I’m just exhausted again. I thought I was coming out of it but no. At least the coughing and sneezing has subsided. On top of that I keep having anxiety attacks.

I’m having an urgent root canal this week. Someone is coming with me because I can’t go through it alone. All this dental work it’s legit traumatising me.
My cold turned really bad. But it was actually symptoms of tooth pain. Dentist said it can cause feverish symptoms. What I was experiencing felt so weird and at the same time I was ignoring the growing pain in my mouth. Not really connecting the two.
So, I went to dentist and she found I have a permanently inflamed nerve after previous fillings work (a potential side effect she warned about). So now it needs fixing, or extracting urgently.
I’m in a lot of pain. But lucky me I’m taking codeine for it.

Mum is in a new hospital now. They moved her a few days ago with very little warning and with some urgency. It was a bit scary for us all.
Her new place is right across the other side of the city in the back and beyond. She is apparently finally improving a little faster now. She is in appropriate care at last. So it seems. And they are amenable to home visits. I think that will really help her a lot.
I haven’t seen her in a couple of weeks now due to my own contagiousness. But hopefully I’ll be able to visit soon. I really miss her.

🥱 I'm so frickin tired, sludgy and foggy. I thought pain meds would help me sleep but insomnia is very bad now. Codeine was nice at first but the yuck is real. I really need it because the pain is so intense without. I'm actually looking forward to this root canal now.

I’m on the other side of my root canal now, nearly.
It was complicated by very swollen nerve (dentist validated the amount of pain I was in). So they need to wait for everything to settle and heal for a couple of weeks before it’s filled permanently.
It was pretty tough going. Dentist was working in my mouth for well over an hour. So I’m exhausted and the pain is coming back in now. But I already feel a whole lot better because it’s not that pain anymore.
Didn’t stop me going for a photo walk after lol.
Anyway. I feel really grateful a family member was able to come into the surgery and support me. And the dentist is pretty much the best one I ever had.

I spent some time with Mum yesterday at her new hospital. She’s doing well! And she’s being creative again which is a really good sign. I haven’t seen her for nearly 3 weeks because of stuff so it was really really good to see her. We had a nice time.
I feel much better about where she is now, it’s much better for her. Even though it’s a long way from us.
